KOTA BHARU - The Kelantan government admits the state has an abundance of natural resources, including oil and gas, but claims they have been taken by others.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said Allah SWT blessed the state with several natural resources for its people to live with their families and with religion.

"Why is the state known as Kelantan Darul Naim? It’s because the state is filled with many blessings from Allah.

"Sometimes the blessings were taken by others; the oil (petroleum) and gas were taken by others. That’s an example, but a correct example (of what happened)," he said in a Friday morning sermon at Medan Ilmu Kota Bharu, here on Friday.

He said other delights the public felt for a long period of time were the five-day workday system with Fridays and Saturdays off.

He said the practice had been established since the late Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s administration.

"Kelantan stated its two days a week off days since Tok Guru’s (Nik Abdul Aziz's) era, while other states had it once a week.

"That’s why we are Darul Naim, a state filled with delights; on Friday you can gain knowledge in religion, while Friday and Saturdays can be spent with families," he said.

Nassuruddin said Kelantan looks seriously at the mahram issues that happen and acts by establishing a principle that a house built should have three rooms to segregate the sexes of sons, daughters, and parents.

He said the policy has been in place for a long time and now proves the state government's decision does not make any sense.

"Kelantan from back then till now, no matter how big or small a home is, it is required to have three rooms for sons, daughters, and parents.

"This policy is now used throughout the nation. We spoke about the mahram issues, and this is what we did to overcome them; we are not simply stating it," he said.
