Gang rape: Police arrest victim's brother-in-law

KUALA LUMPUR - A man being hunted by the police since last week to aid investigation on a gang rape case has been arrested in Wangsa Maju on Saturday.

Federal police Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (D11) principal assistant director Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the man involved, who is also the victim's brother-in-law, was arrested at 11.30pm.

"The suspect is now remanded for six days for investigation under Section 375(B) of the Penal Code.

"The police are now actively tracking four more suspects who are still at large," she told Sinar on Tuesday.

It was reported that a 27-year-old woman was raped by five men while she was sleeping at her home in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur at 3.30am last Wednesday.

The victim was woken up after her mouth and hands were tied up by the culprits before she was raped in turn.

After raping the victim, all the suspects fled.

The victim, a private worker, came forward to make a police report at the Wangsa Maju police station. She had since been referred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
