PUTRAJAYA - The 15th General Election (GE15) was characterised by intense and uncertain competition; nevertheless, DAP emerged as a victor, securing 40 parliamentary seats out of the 55 contested, showcasing an impressive 73 per cent success rate, one of the highest among political parties in Malaysia.

Its secretary general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said out of 33 seats in the Peninsular, none were lost, and DAP retained 2 seats in Sabah while winning 5 out of 6 seats in Sarawak.

The victory of 40 parliamentary seats was the largest contributor to GE15's success.

He added that DAP faced another test last month in the state elections for 6 states, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan.

"We achieved a remarkable 97 per cent success rate, winning 46 out of 47 contested seats,” he added.

During his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Penang DAP chairman, on securing a big win in the Penang polls securing 29 state seats.

"Special commendation also goes to Selangor DAP chairman, Gobind Singh in Selangor, who contributed to winning 12 seats, including challenging ones in Sungai Pelek, Banting, and Kuala Kubu Bharu.

"I also want to congratulate DAP Negeri Sembilan, and myself as a chairman for this state, as we successfully defended all the seats we contested.

"Our cooperation within the Unity Government in Negeri Sembilan has demonstrated our ability to navigate the challenges of both government and party,” he revealed.

He elaborated that DAP has been entrusted with a mandate and the trust of its supporters and that now the party was part of the government.

"Many voters have supported us, but we must remember that we must use this responsibility for the progress of the nation and not for self-interest.

"Today, we can say that DAP is at the peak of success, but we must remain humble and not become arrogant in our struggle.”

Others who were seen at the conference include DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng, DAP's organising secretary Steven Sim Chee Keong, BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, and Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

PKR Vice-President Rafizi Ramli, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, were also seen attending the conference.

Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa were also present.

This is the first conference since the formation of the Unity Government after the 15th General Election (GE15) last year.
