1,551 students to spend night at museums nationwide

SHAH ALAM - A total of 1,551 participants among high school students will spend a night at 25 museums nationwide tomorrow.

The National Unity Ministry (KPN) said in a statement that it aims to nurture the spirit of love for the country and foster a high appreciation for the country's historical, artistic and cultural heritage through museum activities.

"This programme started in 2005 at the National Museum and became one of the main programmes by the Malaysian Museum Department.

"Various interesting activities will be held throughout the programme including the white shirt tie and dip expression using

Jalur Gemilang colours of yellow, red and blue," the statement read.

Meanwhile, the 'Rukun Negara' appreciation activity has been made into one of the mandatory events in line with KPN's initiative in empowering the principles at all levels.

"The programme is also seen as an integration platform for students who came from different ethnic, culture, race and religion backgrounds.

National Unity secretary general Datuk Indera Noridah Abdul Rahim said that the programme is very timely and suitable for students to foster their love for the nation.

She explained that the ministry will alway support programmes that emphasise and foster a sense of unity.
