MACC arrests woman bribing luxury cars for RM87 million ministry project

PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a woman for allegedly gifting a luxury car as a bribe to obtain a facility management and maintenance project involving a ministry worth approximately RM87 million.

According to sources, the luxury car was worth about RM200,000.

"A woman in her 30s believed to be the owner of a maintenance and cleaning company was arrested at 6.50pm on Monday at the Putrajaya MACC office, where she provided a statement on the case.

"The woman is suspected of giving bribes in the form of luxury cars to senior officials of the ministry this year to get a facility management and maintenance project for a five-year period approved in 2021," he said on Tuesday.

The source added that the woman was remanded for four days, starting Tuesday.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Aima Nabila Muhammad Azhar after the MACC made the application at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court.

Meanwhile, MACC's Senior Director of the Special Operations Division, Datuk Tan Kang Sai, confirmed the arrest when contacted.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
