The national team, who targeted the gold medal, had to be contented with the bronze after losing 2-1 to China in yesterday’s semi-finals, which also saw Kyrgyzstan losing 2-0 to Mongolia.

Jun Wen, also known as JT, said they were not satisfied with the bronze.

"The team is good, we should keep pushing ourselves to be a better team. We can do better than bronze,” he said.

Meanwhile, national coach Chai Yee Fung said their lack of preparation time affected the team's chances of striking gold and he promised that they would improve on their performance next time.

This is the first time esports is being contested as a medal event in the Asian Games after making its debut as a demonstration sport in the 2018 edition in Jakarta-Palembang, Indonesia. - BERNAMA
