Ford Mustang seized over fake registration

KLANG - A Ford Mustang driver near Kapar Road here got into trouble when the Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) discovered he was using a fake registration number.

The department deputy director Ahmad Kamarunzaman Mehat said that a patrol conducted by his officers at around 11.40am found the vehicle to be driven in a suspicious manner.

"Upon checking, it was known that the vehicle was driven by a 36-year-old car salesman.

"The vehicle displayed a registration number from another vehicle, and upon verification, it was not registered and had no record in the Road Transport Department system," he said in a statement today.

The investigations revealed that the vehicle was in the process of being transferred to a new owner, he added.

"Notices have been issued for the offence of document forgery, and the vehicle has been confiscated under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"The vehicle in question has since been taken to the Selangor RTD Enforcement Division Office for further investigation," he said.

Ahmad Kamarunzaman added that his department takes such matters seriously and continuously monitors all types of vehicles.

"This is to ensure that users always comply with the established road regulations and laws.
