SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin denied claims that he was linked to MYAirline’s closure.

The Bersatu president insisted that he had no knowledge of the company's background.

"I found out that there are parties trying to link me to the crisis involving MYAirline.

"I would like to emphasise that I have nothing to do with this airline or any of the company's shareholders," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

It was reported that the low-cost airline announced its suspension of operations effective on October 12.

Through a statement, the company said the suspension would continue until a date to be announced later.

The decision was made due to financial pressure in addition to waiting for the restructuring of the shareholders and the regeneration of the company's capital.

Muhyiddin added that the airline obtained conditional approval of the air service licence when he was no longer the prime minister.

He said the involvement of a law firm as a lawyer on behalf of MYAirlines company shareholders cannot be linked to him at all.

Muhyiddin said the law firm had the right to represent anyone who needed its legal services.

"I believe there are certain parties who are trying to tarnish my name by making malicious accusations that I am involved with this company.

"Stop this dirty cheap politics," he said.
