Chants of 'jahanam Israel' fill the streets

KUALA LUMPUR - The Solidarity with Gaza and Palestine Rally witnessed more participants joining compared to the previous one held last Friday.

During the rally, besides waving Palestinian flags, dozens of participants also carried a giant Palestinian flag.

As soon as they performed the Friday prayers at the Tabung Haji (TH) building at Jalan Tun Razak, the high-spirited group made up of about 200 people made their way on foot towards the United States (US) Embassy located not far from the TH building.

Besides Malaysians of various nationalities taking part to express their support for the oppressed people of Gaza, Palestinians who were residing in this country also joined the peaceful assembly.

Some participants, holding small children draped with Palestinian flags, chanted 'jahanam Israel' (go to hell Israel) during the gathering, which ended around 3.30pm.

Even the rain which came down for a short while during the gathering did not deter the crowd from standing near the US Embassy.

A number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Muslim youth leaders also spared their time to deliver a series of speeches.

Former prominent politician Chua Tian Chang or better known as Tian Chua and social activist Hishamuddin Rais were present and they urged the US government to stop providing support to the Israeli government.

Besides that, former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Pejuang information chief Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali were also present at the gathering.
