Python startles students in UiTM dormitory

Malaysian Civil Defence Force members discovered a baby python perched on a dormitory desk measuring less than one metre.

MELAKA - Students residing in a men's dormitory at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Lendu had an unexpected encounter when they discovered a baby python on one of the room's desks.

Alor Gajah Civil Defence district operations, disaster and logistics Officer Lieutenant Abdul Hadi Baharom said that his team received a distress call about the incident at 9.03am.

Upon reaching the dormitory, he said four Malaysian Civil Defence Force members discovered a baby python perched on a dormitory desk measuring less than one metre.

"The incident was noticed by a student known as Muhamad Izzuddin, who promptly made an emergency call.

"Using special equipment, it took us about an hour to safely capture the snake," he said when contacted earlier today.

The reptile was released into a nearby forest area.

Abdul Hadi also offered valuable advice to the public, encouraging them not to attempt to handle or capture snakes unless they possess the necessary expertise and skills.

"The current hot weather conditions are likely attracting reptiles seeking cooler shelter, which could explain their unexpected presence in such places," he added.
