Police probe bullying by senior students at boarding school

KUALA KANGSAR - Police have initiated an investigation into a bullying incident involving a male student at a boarding school here.

Kuala Kangsar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said the report on the incident was received on Sept 24, involving three victims who were Form Four students.

"Initial investigations found that the three victims were assaulted by four Form Five students.

"However, the victims were subsequently taken for further treatment at Kuala Kangsar Hospital.

"The results of the doctor's examination, which included 'normal physical findings,' confirmed that the victims did not suffer any severe injuries," he said in a statement here today.

An investigation was being conducted under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which pertains to causing intentional harm.

"The investigation papers have been referred to the Perak police contingent headquarters (IPK) D5 Division (Prosecution/Law) for further action.

"However, the public is reminded not to make any baseless statements or speculations regarding this incident," he added.

Earlier, a post on Instagram circulated on Friday showing a student from a school believed to be hospitalised after being bullied by seniors at a school in Kuala Kangsar.

An appeal letter for leniency in the disciplinary punishment against the perpetrators was also shared, requesting them to behave well, receive caning, and engage in charitable work at the school.
