Six brothers among those arrested for raping 11-year-old girl

GERIK - Seven men, including six siblings, were arrested by the police after being suspected of raping an11-year-old girl in Kampung Pahat, here.

Gerik district police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Mahmood said the arrest of the suspects aged between 13 and 31 were made after receiving a report lodged by the victim's mother at around 9.26pm, yesterday.

Zulkifli said the incident came to light when the 36-year-old woman was told by her husband that the victim had been raped.

"The incident was witnessed by the victim's nine-year-old sister. The witness saw seven of her brother's friends rape her sister in the victim's neighbour's room.

"Investigation found that the incident happened on Nov 3 at around 2pm. The six suspects are brothers and the other one is their friend," he said in a statement, here, today.

Zulkifli said the witness said she had seen similar incidents happen to her sister several times before.

"Further investigation found that the victim had never attended school. All the suspects were arrested at around 1.51am on Tuesday.

The result of the urine screening test of the suspects were found to be negative for drugs.

"All suspects have been remanded for seven days until next Monday and the case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code," he said.
