World Quran Convention 2023: Explore divine guidance for life's challenges

SHAH ALAM - In a world filled with challenges, the upcoming World Quran Convention 2023 (WQC) is set to provide a unique platform where the Quran takes centre stage, offering divine guidance to tackle various individual, familial and societal issues.

The convention will take place at Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA, from 8am to 7.30pm, on Saturday (Dec 2).

In the event, participants will get to delve into the profound insights of Surah Al-Insan, focusing on the intrinsic values of human beings and their true purpose in this world.

Organised by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) in collaboration with Bayyinah Institute, the convention will go beyond the recitation of the verses in the Quran as it aims to foster unity among the Sahabah al-Quran (SQ) and instill positive values within the Muslim community.

Pakistani-American preacher Nouman Ali Khan who is also the founder of Bayyinah Institute is the director of WQH and will be delivering the keynote speech during the event.

He will also be a speaker and moderator of some of the panel discussion sessions.

Nouman will also be among 20 distinguished Islamic scholars and visionary panellists who will lead in-depth discussions during the sessions, sharing valuable insights and practical solutions for navigating the complexities of human life.

Recognising the influential role of media in today's world, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil will also be a panellist during one of the sessions to share insights on harnessing digital platforms for positive impact.

In the session called 'Revealed Wisdom & Creative Media', Fahmi alongside other panellists and Islamic scholars, will delve into discussions on navigating the digital realm and explore how these platforms can serve as a source for benefiting others.

Another poignant part to the convention will be the sharing of Dr Abdul Munim Sombat Jitmoud's story, emphasising the challenging choice of forgiveness, offering powerful inspiration for participants.

The former principle of seven Islamic schools in the United States (US) was the father who forgave and embraced the man who abetted in the murder of his 22-year-old son Salahuddin in a US courtroom in 2017.

Salahuddin was stabbed and robbed while making a pizza delivery in Lexington, Kentucky on the night of April 19, 2015.

Munim who is an envoy of mercy was awarded Malaysia's first Rahmatan lil-alamin (mercy to all creation) Compassionate Icon award in 2019.

He will be speaking in the 'Serve to be Served (Individual & Family)' panel discussion session with other panellists.

In this session, participants will also get to explore and be inspired by real-life stories from the panellists and on how to deal with individual and family challenges.

The other panellists who will be speaking at the convention are World Trade Centre group managing director Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim, Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Indonesia Professor Dr Kh. Nasaruddin Umar, Amanie Group founder Tan Sri Dr Daud Bakar, Islamic Institute for Development & Research (IIDR) director Sharif Hasan Al-Banna, entreprenuer and media advisor Ibrahim Eren, Bangladeshi scholar Shaykh Mizanur Rahman, Durioo+ founder and CEO Tuan Sinan Ismail, WUIF chief content officer Fazrul Ismail, Ibn 'Ashur Centre Dr Sohaib Saeed, Oxford University Centre for Muslim-Christian Studies DPhil scholar Saqib Hussain, Palestinian Imam Shaykh Rami As-Sousi, Pakistani Qari Shaykh Asfandyar Dilawar, Syrian Qari Shaykh Asem Abdulkarim Othman, My #QuranTime Qari Tirmizi Ali, ARBA Foundation CEO Azlan Shah Nabees Khan and Poly-Tech University Malaysia senior lecturer Dr Mohd Erfino Johari.

The event will be hosted by Zaim Zamri.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar will be delivering the closing note for the event.

Embracing the theme "Serve to be Served: A Divine Guidance from Surah Al-Insan, the convention aspired to transform mindsets and characters, contributing to the creation of a compassionate nation with a positive global impact.

The WQC is the highlight of the yearly global event known as World #QuranHour (WQH), where Muslims worldwide come together for an hour to connect with a chosen surah from the Quran.

Both the WQH and WQC programmes were organised by WUIF, operating under the umbrella of Karangkraf Media Group.
