Man fatally injured by electric cutting machine at home

KUBANG PASU - A man met his demise after sustaining injuries to his neck from a metal cutting machine in the storage area of his home in Kampung Pida Lama, here, yesterday.

Muhammad Hafizad Ibrahim, 25, was confirmed dead at the scene due to the severe injuries he suffered.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan said the department received a distress call from an informant at 5.30pm regarding the death of the man at the reported area.

A team of investigators from the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Division, along with Kodiang police station were rushed to the scene.

"The victim was found lying on the floor near the electric cutting machine with injuries to his neck.

"The victim, who was still single, is the fourth child out of six siblings and qualifies for Tambun Tulang Matriculation College in Perlis.

"At the time of the incident, the victim was at home with two younger siblings, who saw their brother lying with neck injuries near the metal cutting machine and unconscious when he went to the storeroom to retrieve something," he said when contacted today.

Rodzi said that the victim's youngest sibling immediately informed their sister about the incident and claimed they did not see anyone coming to the house before it happened.

He said that, based on the information from the victim's father, it is believed that his son had been suffering from a fever for the past four days and had not fully recovered.

"Officers and members of the Forensic Unit from the Kedah Police Contingent attended the scene, and the initial examination found no criminal elements and only injuries to the neck, believed to be caused by the blade of the electric cutting machine.

"Further examination of the body also found no signs of struggle, no signs of an accident, or any attempt by the victim to commit suicide.

"Examination at the scene also did not find any suspicious objects," he said.

Rodzi mentioned that the victim's body was then sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.

He said the case was classified as sudden death. - AWANI
