PETALING JAYA - The management of Rumah Pangsa Desa Mentari is proposing the installation of closed-circuit cameras (CCTV) in the vicinity of their housing blocks to address the issue of garbage being irresponsibly thrown from upper floors.

Resident Laiha Nadimin, 44, stressed the significance of CCTV footage as crucial evidence for apprehending the real perpetrators, thereby ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the residents in the area.

"In my housing block, residents collectively contribute funds for the installation of CCTV.

"The presence of CCTV makes individuals think twice before indiscriminately disposing of rubbish.

"It provides us with a clear record of which house is disposing of garbage and on which floor.

"This measure not only fosters a sense of security but also leads to a reduction in littering incidents," she told Sinar when met.

Businessman Nasirdin Ton, 60, suggested that the management take a stricter approach by issuing summonses to those found guilty of the offence.

"When we identify the culprit, we issue the first warning. Upon a repeated offense, a second warning is given.

"For the third offence, a summon should be issued.

"There has been a significant amount of garbage, including eggs and other food waste, being haphazardly thrown down instead of being disposed of properly," Nasirdin added.
