Last year, Fadhlina carved out a historical milestone by becoming the first female to serve as Education Minister.

Her tenure was reaffirmed during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Cabinet reshuffle on December 12 of the same year.

Prior to this reshuffle, she was under scrutiny for how her ministry managed the Palestinian Solidarity Week in certain schools, a situation she addressed with visible emotion in Parliament.
