KOTA KINABALU - Two people were injured after falling from a spinning octopus ride at a funfair in Likas on Wednesday night.

Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) confirmed receiving a distress call and dispatched a team to the scene.

Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah clarified that the incident involved injuries, with no fatalities.

"A man and a woman were injured, but there were no casualties," he confirmed via WhatsApp message on Wednesday night.

Two videos, totaling six minutes and 15 seconds, have been circulating online, showing the aftermath of the incident where two patrons appeared to have fallen from the ride.

In a related matter, BBP Chief Ordine Gilu noted that their department received a call about the incident at 8.58pm.

A team was then deployed to the location.

"Reports indicated that the incident involved patrons falling from a ride at the funfair.

"Junaidah Tarasan, 29, one of the injured, suffered head injuries.

"Emergency Medical Rescue Services Unit (EMRS) personnel provided initial treatment before transporting her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by EMRS ambulance," Gilu said.

The operation concluded at 9.40pm, according to Gilu.
