Veteran sports journalist Jugjet Singh passes away

KUALA LUMPUR - Veteran sports journalist Jugjet Singh Randhawa, 55, passed away at the Beacon Hospital in Petaling Jaya at 3pm today after a long battle with illness.

The New Straits Times journalist who has been involved in the coverage of local and international hockey matches throughout his association in sports reporting, has been suffering from colon cancer for four years.

Reports claimed he was recently admitted to a private hospital in Petaling Jaya when his condition became critical.

He leaves behind wife Jasbir Kaur Aujla and four children, Arvin, Sanjit, Ranjit and Baljit, all boys.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) President Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal were among individuals who visited Jugjet before he passed away.

His remains will be cremated at the Jalan Loke Yew Crematorium at 3pm tomorrow. - BERNAMA
