SHAH ALAM - The real reason for the failure of Muafakat Nasional (MN) is related to the secret relationship between Umno and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership before the 15th General Election (GE15), and not Pas.

Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari claimed that the phone conversation between the "teacher and student" as well as a "lump of A4 paper" before GE15 were evidence of this.

"Just to remind you, the conversation is the biggest evidence that there was a secret relationship between Datuk Seri personally and the PH leadership.

"Finally, it was accomplished after GE15. Of course, the common argument was that it was due to the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for Barisan Nasional (BN) to cooperate with PH to form the federal government.

"Yes, just merely complying with the decree," he said in a Facebook post, yesterday.

On Saturday, it was reported that Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi rejected the proposal to revive MN because he wanted to focus on cooperating with the Madani Government party.

Zahid claimed that Umno has never undermined MN and the unity of the ummah and on the contrary, it was Pas that did so.

Commenting further, Fadhli, who is also Pasir Mas MP questioned BN's willingness to cooperate with PH in the government due to the decree or other factors.

"If it is true, the question is whether it is also due to the decree that BN is willing to cooperate with PH to form a state government in Perak and Pahang even though there are other alternatives to form a Malay Muslim-dominated government. If it is because of the decree, which decree or whose decree?.

"When Datuk Seri expresses hope that this cooperation will continue until GE16, meaning in the next election, BN will continue to cooperate with PH to oppose PN one-on-one, is it also because of the decree?.

"Doesn't it mean that after GE16, BN will continue to cooperate with PH to form the government (if they win). Do not use the word decree to that extent," he added.

Meanwhile, Fadhli urged Zahid not to discuss the MN issue further as there was no need to prolong the issue at this time.

"This Ramadan, let us increase our worship and reduce conflicts, fearing they will escalate and reduce the rewards later, especially intentionally raising unnecessary issues that will undoubtedly prolong this debate.

"A longer response can be given, but it is better to stop at this point as a response. If it was not initiated by Datuk Seri, there's no need to respond actually because everyone already knows the true position of the matter.

"For now, if Datuk Seri remains steadfast in being with PH, I wish him success," he said.
