Man stabs coworker for stealing his orange juice during iftar - Police

Police arrested the suspect 10 minutes after received report.

SHAH ALAM – A Bangladeshi man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a co-worker over an orange juice after breaking their fast at Section 36, here, yesterday.

District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident took place at a factory worker's hostel at 7.20pm and a report was lodged by a man who was at the scene.

"The victim was a 49-year-old Bangladeshi man who worked as a public worker.

"The victim and the suspect, 51, lived together in a container that was used as a factory hostel.

"The incident happened as the suspect gets angry when the victim drank his orange juice while breaking fast,” he said in a statement.

Iqbal added the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim several times using a knife that was taken from the kitchen.

Police, he said, arrested the suspect 10 minutes after the report was lodged and seized a knife allegedly used in the incident.

Iqbal said the suspect would be remanded at the Shah Alam Court today.

"An investigation is carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code, if found guilty, one shall be punished with death or imprisonment for a term of not less than thirty years but not exceeding forty years and if not sentenced to death, shall also be punished with whipping of not less than twelve strokes,” the statement read.
