The survivors were Ahmad Suriadi, 40 (father), and Mohd Alif, 9 (son).

The deceased included Juliana, 38 (mother), Mohd Diham, 10 (son), and Riska Amelia, 4 (daughter).

According to the father's account, they arrived for a casual fishing trip around 330pm.

Initial conditions were favourable, with shallow water and clear weather.

However, a sudden downpour caused strong currents that dislodged them from the concrete drain, plunging them into deeper water (approximately 1.2 metres).
