'Allocation for Opposition would enrich democracy in Malaysia' - Ronald Kiandee

SHAH ALAM - The allocation for Perikatan Nasional (PN) representatives is hoped to be disbursed in the near future as it enriches the democratic system in the country.
Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said that the financial allocation would also signify the government's magnanimity in acknowledging the role played by the opposition.
According to the Beluran MP, PN welcomes the government's willingness to discuss the matter.
"This government holds a two-thirds majority, and it certainly will not change its position, but it further enriches the democratic system.
"We (PN) are ready to play a role as the opposition because the government needs us for check and balance," he told Sinar.
He made these remarks in response to media reports that opposition representatives' demand for allocation would be discussed at the Supreme Council Meeting of the Unity Government Secretariat this week.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof reportedly said that the matter followed his meeting with the opposition leader, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, in Parliament on March 19.
Besides Hamzah, the meeting with Fadillah was also attended by opposition chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
Meanwhile, Ronald also suggested that allocations for every MP, regardless of whether they are from the opposition or the government, should be made "constitutionally" to become the government's obligation.
"It means that government allocations are mandated for everyone, including the opposition," he said.
