Lahad Datu death: Police seize gun, await autopsy results
Probe ongoing, no arrests made
KUALA LUMPUR - Police have seized a Walther P99 semi-automatic pistol as part of an investigation into the death of the Lahad Datu district police chief's daughter.
However, Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Shahurinain Jais said that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation has not uncovered any criminal elements.
"This case is classified as sudden death (SDR), but further investigations are ongoing.
"So far, no arrests have been made as there is no evidence implicating anyone else in this case," he said today.
Meanwhile, he also added that the police are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
This is because the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
He said three witnesses were summoned to provide testimony to assist the investigation.
It was reported yesterday that Lahad Datu dstrict police chief's daughter was found lying in a pool of blood in a room at Taman Tabanak, Lahad Datu, with a gun in her hand at 12.42pm on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said in a statement that the victim was discovered by her 16-year-old sister.
The victim's sister found her sibling lying in the room upon returning from school.
At the time of the incident, the victim's father was in Kinabatangan involved in a house-shifting process due to his recent promotion.
