Free history classes bridge knowledge gap and build community

SHAH ALAM - In a bid to give back to the community, Afi Roshezry Abu Bakar, a dedicated political science lecturer at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Kampar Campus, has initiated free history tuition classes for students preparing for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams.

These classes are organised in collaboration with the Rukun Tetangga Club (KRT) Taman Pengkalan Jaya, Masjid Al Furqan, and Umno Ipoh Timor Training Bureau.

They take place in Masjid Al Furqan's study area and are specifically aimed at the children of the local housing community.

Afi believes that sharing his knowledge is a valuable contribution to sharpening the students' skills in history.

"As a university lecturer, I feel it would be a waste if I did not share my expertise in this subject to help these young students enhance their skills," he said.

He further clarified that the classes are conducted regularly and have been well-received by the students.

"Many of these students are from the local community, and I have known most of them since they were little.

"We also aim to provide them with productive activities during the weekends," he added.

In addition to the tuition classes, Afi highlighted that KRT Taman Pengkalan Jaya is active in organising various community programmes.

These initiatives are designed to engage and benefit the local community, promoting a sense of togetherness and mutual support.

Afi's free tuition classes not only aid students in their academic pursuits but also foster a community spirit and encourage meaningful weekend activities.
