SHAH ALAM - Hana, a local Instagram artist known as @suri_rumah.art, passed away at the age of 25 on Feb 17 after a battle with stage four cancer.
Her husband, only known as Fikri, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, clarifying that while she struggled with depression, her passing was not due to suicide.
"I want to share the heartbreaking news that Hana (I cannot disclose her real name), known as @suri_rumah.art, passed away on 17 Feb 2025 (2000–2025) after battling depression.
"However, I want to clarify that her passing was not due to suicide but stage four cancer. As her husband, I sincerely apologise if she ever hurt anyone’s feelings and I also ask for forgiveness if I was unable to care for her as she deserved,” he said.
Hana was known for her distinctive and deeply personal art, which resonated with many of her followers. Following her passing, Fikri made the difficult decision to remove all of her Instagram posts to preserve her unique artistic legacy.
"I have removed all the posts she uploaded on Instagram to prevent anyone from copying or claiming her work, as her unique art style belongs solely to her.
"This is the last drawing she created, Al-Fatihah. She always said her artwork was her way of embracing death.
"Rest now, my love—perhaps you will finally find the family you always longed for. I am sorry if I was not the husband you deserved. If I had been there, I would have saved you, but I was too weak and I wish this was not real.
"As her husband, I will continue to manage this Instagram account. I apologise for not being able to go through all the direct messages, but I will respond where she left drafts. Thank you for supporting our journey. This is where our story ends," he shared.
