KUALA LUMPUR - All mosques and surau under the supervision of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) have been ordered to perform solat hajat for Palestine throughout the remaining days of Ramadan.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the directive hightlights Malaysia’s solidarity with the Palestinian people in light of Israel’s brutal attacks in Gaza, which violate the ceasefire agreement.
He said the Malaysian government strongly condemns the actions of the Zionist regime, describing the killing of 404 people, including women and children, and the injury of 562 others in Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip as an unacceptable war crime.
"Muslims nationwide are also urged to pray to Allah SWT for the safety and victory of the oppressed Palestinians.
"Malaysia remains steadfast in supporting the Palestinian struggle and will not remain silent against this injustice,” he said in a statement on Facebook today.
Mohd Na’im also called on the international community to take firm action to end Israel’s aggression and ensure justice for the Palestinian people.
Last Saturday, Israel launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, breaking the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Jan 19. - BERNAMA
