SHAH ALAM - As Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) gears up for its 2025 central-level elections, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has openly backed Nurul Izzah Anwar for the deputy president post.

He described his support as more than just about Nurul Izzah’s personal strengths, calling it a deliberate and necessary step to protect the party’s long-term goals.

"I believe this is not merely about an individual, but a strategic step to strengthen the party’s future leadership line-up.

"For decades, PKR has been described as the party of the future. Today, that future has arrived. The future is now," Adam said in an Instagram post, earlier today.

Recognising PKR's tradition of nurturing leaders from various walks of life, Adam stressed the need to confront the structural and identity-based gaps that still remained within the party.

He emphasised that since PKR's inception, the party has produced generations of leaders from diverse backgrounds.

This diversity, he said has also created many gaps whether generational or gender-related that now needed to be bridged by choosing a leader best equipped for the task.

"All of us must take a stand. After careful consideration and without diminishing respect for any party leader, I hereby express my support for the nomination of Nurul Izzah Anwar as deputy president in the 2025 party elections," he said.

Adam highlighted that Nurul Izzah represented not only principle and capability but also the ability to bridge generational divides and reignite the reformist spirit across a changing political demographic.

He added that in an increasingly complex political landscape, she stood as a figure who was not only principled and capable, but also able to inspire the spirit of reform in a new generation, across different backgrounds.

"As one of the most experienced vice-presidents since the party’s early days, having served three terms as an MP and dedicated herself as a human rights activist beyond the political calendar, Nurul Izzah has consistently championed the values of justice, integrity and institutional reform.

"This party is being prepared for a new era and new challenges. Having Nurul Izzah at the forefront signals our commitment to the continuity of reformist ideals, going beyond any one individual or family name.

"Nurul Izzah is part of PKR's long history and she is also the future of the party," he said.
