SHAH ALAM – Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin has admitted that he has not considered joining any other party to continue his political career ahead of the 16th General Election.
However, the former Rembau MP did not deny receiving numerous offers from parties other than Umno.
"Like my advice to Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli to stay with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), no need to form a new party or join another party... the same goes for me.
"I have not thought about joining another party despite receiving offers from various parties. For me, that has always defined my political struggle and path.
"So, I will wait if one day... by mutual agreement, the Umno Supreme Council accepts back expelled members,” he said.
He made the remarks to Sinar during a visit to the Karangkraf Group Complex here on Tuesday.
Also present were Karangkraf Group Advisor Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub; Karangkraf Book Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Firdaus Hussamuddin; and Sinar Karangkraf Group CEO Farah Hussamuddin.
Last December, Khairy expressed his own ‘conditions’ should he return to Umno, stating that he would not sacrifice his principles.
According to the former Youth and Sports Minister, he had no intention of clashing with anyone in Umno but wants to see the party improve.
Khairy added that he still considered himself a member of Umno, even though he was expelled from the party in January 2023.
