SHAH ALAM – A well-known actor and singer who was arrested on suspicion of committing sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl is believed to have carried out the act during their first physical meeting.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations indicated that the suspect and the victim, a student, had been acquainted for only a short period.
"Our findings suggest this was the suspect’s first act of sexual misconduct towards the victim.
"Their acquaintance is believed to have lasted between one and two months,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor Police Headquarters on Friday.
He added that investigations into the case are ongoing.
"The suspect has been arrested and his statement recorded. He has since been released on police bail.
"The investigation paper is nearly complete and will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) soon,” he said.
Sinar Harian previously reported that the suspect was detained after allegedly committing physical sexual misconduct against the teenager at a hotel in Selangor.
It is believed the victim first met the suspect at a café. He then allegedly took her to a hotel, where the misconduct is said to have occurred.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792).
