ISKANDAR PUTERI – The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a teacher who had not shown up for work since Sept 24, last year was finally solved with the discovery of her body in a house in Bandar Selesa Jaya, near here, last Thursday.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said they received information on the matter following a police report lodged at the Nusa Bestari police station the same day.
"The body was discovered after a neighbour investigated the source of a foul smell in the area before lodging a report at 8pm.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman, identified as Lo Kwan Fong, 39, was believed to have died about a month ago," he said in a statement on Monday.
A post-mortem conducted by a forensic specialist at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru, found that the cause of death was unascertained due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
Further investigations revealed that the woman was single and worked as a teacher at a school in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Johor Bahru.
The case has been classified as sudden death, with no criminal elements detected that could be linked to the cause of death.
Police said they were currently tracing the victim’s next of kin, who were believed to have migrated to Singapore.
