PUTRAJAYA - Singer and actor Naim Daniel was brought before the Sessions Court here today in connection with a sexual assault case involving an underaged teenage girl.
The 28-year-old arrived at the court at about 8.34am accompanied by his mother and lawyer.
"Assalamualaikum," he said as he walked through the courthouse lobby, greeting members of the media.
The proceedings against the "Sumpah" singer was set to be heard at 9am in a closed-door session before Judge Datin M. Kunasundary.
Last week, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the Selangor Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued instructions to charge a celebrity.
"The suspect is expected to be charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for committing physical sexual assault against the victim," Hussein said.
