Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi vowed to continue raising public concerns in the Dewan Rakyat despite no longer being in the government.

He said he will still focus on issues related to his former portfolio, while also addressing other public concerns in the Dewan Rakyat.

SHAH ALAM – Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad says stepping away from his Cabinet post has given him greater freedom to express his views.

The Setiawangsa MP said it was important for government backbenchers, including himself, to also play an active check-and-balance role in Parliament.

“We are not just a ‘rubber stamp’ for government policies. If something is right, I will say so. If it can be improved, I will say so. And if it is wrong, I will also speak up,” he told Sinar Daily at the Karangkraf Complex, here, today.

The former natural resources and environmental sustainability minister, who stepped down on July 4, said he remained committed to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him by the voters who elected him under the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner.
