SHAH ALAM – The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has confirmed that several individuals, including Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and Bersatu Armada chief Muhammad Hilman Idham, will be charged soon over statements deemed to have disturbed public order.
In a statement on Tuesday, the AGC said it had reviewed investigation papers submitted by the police regarding remarks made by Akmal on the Facebook page ‘Akmal Saleh’ and by Hilman via the TikTok account ‘alfah.channel.tv’.
“Based on the available evidence and statements, the AGC has decided to proceed with charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code [Act 574] against YB Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and YB Muhammad Hilman Idham,” the statement read.
Another individual, Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, will also face the same charge for content posted via her TikTok account ‘SHA Abrienda’.
Meanwhile, S. Chandrasegaran will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588] for a post made on his TikTok account ‘cikguchandra3’.
“All charges will be brought before the Magistrates’ Court with the relevant local jurisdiction in the near future.
“The statements made by all individuals involved were found to have disrupted public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or services,” the AGC added.
