SHAH ALAM – Malaysian cuisine has taken the spotlight at the Osaka World Expo 2025, being voted the most delicious food in a special survey by Japan’s Yomiuri TV.
The recognition was hailed by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who said it highlighted the global appeal of Malaysian cuisine and hospitality.
“We always say Malaysian food is the most delicious cuisine and this view has been agreed upon by visitors at Expo 2025 Osaka. The dishes at the Malaysia Pavilion have been crowned number one in the special ‘Expo Gourmet’ survey conducted by Yomiuri TV,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Australia secured second place, while third was shared by Saudi Arabia, Germany and France.
Tengku Zafrul extended his congratulations to the Malaysian team behind the pavilion, saying their hard work had paid off.
“This achievement is very meaningful because the survey was carried out among season pass holders of Expo 2025. So, these are people who frequently enjoy the food at the expo, not just one-time visitors,” he said.
He also revealed that roti canai has been one of the star attractions at the expo.
Despite being sold at RM50 per piece, the popular flatbread has been drawing strong demand, with about 1,500 pieces sold each day.
