NEW DELHI - Twelve people were killed in a building collapse in India's Maharashtra state on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Virar area of Palghar district, approximately 70 km from the state capital, Mumbai.
Six bodies were recovered from the site, while six others died during treatment at various hospitals, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
The four-storey Ramabai apartment building was constructed 14 years ago and declared unsafe earlier by the local municipal authority, according to media reports.
