Maxis expands 2025 Scholarship Programme to empower Malaysia’s next wave of digital talent

The initiative not only provides financial assistance but also prepares students with the skills and exposure needed to contribute to the nation’s digital transformation.

SHAH ALAM - Maxis has opened applications for its 2025 Scholarship Programme, creating more opportunities for young Malaysians to further their studies in critical Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The initiative not only provides financial assistance but also prepares students with the skills and exposure needed to contribute to the nation’s digital transformation.

This year, the scholarship has been expanded beyond first-year undergraduates to also include second-year undergraduates and postgraduates, aged 18 to 23, who are enrolled in recognised higher education institutions in Malaysia.

By widening its scope, Maxis aims to support more promising students in becoming future leaders in the digital economy.

Scholars will not only receive financial support covering both tuition and living expenses, but also opportunities for internships and job placements with Maxis upon graduation, subject to academic and programme performance.

Maxis chief people and transformation officer Patrick Er emphasised the company’s long-term commitment to cultivating a digitally skilled workforce.

“Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan's (RMK13) emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) readiness, this initiative will prepare scholars to excel professionally and become key contributors to our nation’s digital transformation.

“This reflects our belief that ‘Tomorrow Begins Today’, as we empower young Malaysian talent to shape the nation’s digital future,” he said.

The scholarship prioritises STEM disciplines that are vital to Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda. Eligible fields include:

  • Engineering (Network, Telecommunications, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic)
  • AI
  • Cloud Computing
  • Computer Science
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Science
  • Information Technology
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Actuarial Science
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Economics

Since its inception, Maxis has supported 349 students through its scholarship programmes, demonstrating its ongoing role in advancing Malaysia’s digital readiness.
