SHAH ALAM - The commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth has always held a special place in the hearts of Muslims.
Maulidur Rasul continues to be a moment of reflection, gratitude and unity, reminding Muslims to strengthen their devotion through meaningful practices.
Muslims will observe Maulidur Rasul on 12 Rabiulawal 1444H — a date that holds deep significance in the Islamic calendar, marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who guided mankind from the darkness of ignorance.
In Malaysia, Maulidur Rasul is celebrated with processions accompanied by blessings and salutations to the Prophet Muhammad, along with religious gatherings, forums and programmes that reflect upon the Prophet’s biography.
The celebration also serves as a call for Muslims to deepen their love and devotion by increasing their practice of the Sunnah.
It reminds Muslims that commemorating the Prophet is not just about rituals but also about living by his teachings in everyday life.
Independent preacher Asmak Hussin shared four noble practices that Muslims can embrace during this blessed occasion.
On her Facebook page, she wrote that the first step is to recite the Quran more frequently.
“This is because the Quran is the greatest miracle of the Prophet (PBUH),” she said.
Secondly, she encouraged Muslims to increase their "selawat" Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The third practice, she said is to study the Prophet’s biography together with family members.
Asmak said parents play a key role in teaching their children about the struggles, sacrifices and successes of the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions.
This ensures that younger generations remain inspired to follow in his footsteps.
Lastly, she highlighted the importance of inheriting and continuing the Prophet’s mission.
“The greatest Sunnah left by the Prophet (PBUH) was the establishment of an Islamic state. Therefore, we must be determined and committed to continue the Prophet’s mission of da‘wah so that Islam remains strong and firm,” she said in her post.
