KOTA TINGGI - Two drivers were killed in a collision at KM26 of Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi this morning.
Kota Tinggi police chief Supt Yusof Othman said the accident, which occurred at about 8am, involved a Toyota Vios driven by a 47-year-old local woman and a Perodua Bezza driven by a 37-year-old local man.
"Both drivers sustained severe head and internal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have been sent to the Forensic Unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for the post-mortem process,” he said in a statement today.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a prison term of five to 10 years, a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and disqualification from holding a driving licence for at least five years, upon conviction.
Yusof also reminded the public to always comply with traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users. - BERNAMA
