SHAH ALAM – Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied claims that he resigned as the Selangor Opposition leader, following a viral WhatsApp message alleging that he would vacate the position effective Oct 1.
The Hulu Kelang assemblyman was alleged in the message to have informed others that he had taken the decision to step aside and allow Perikatan Nasional (PN) assemblymen to discuss a replacement.
The same message also called on PN assemblymen to hold discussions to decide on a new opposition leader ahead of the upcoming Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, while thanking those who had supported him during his tenure.
However, Azmin dismissed the claims, stressing that the rumour was untrue.
“It is not true, I am always optimistic and doing my very best. The people must be helped,” said the Bersatu Secretary-General.
