The severe weather is expected to affect Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak in Perak; Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang; as well as the whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds for several states, until noon today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia forecasted that the severe weather is expected to affect Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak in Perak; Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang; as well as the whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.

The same conditions are forecast for Negeri Sembilan, specifically Seremban and Port Dickson, Melaka, and Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian in Johor.

In a separate development, MetMalaysia reported that a strong earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, occurred in the Bali Sea, Indonesia, at 12.49 am last night.

The quake's epicentre was located at a depth of 10 kilometres, approximately 128 kilometres northeast of Probolinggo, Indonesia. However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - BERNAMA
