Former NSTP group editor-in-chief Hishamuddin Aun dies

Former group editor-in-chief of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) Datuk Hishamuddin Aun died of pneumonia at Sultan Idris Hospital, Serdang, at about 7.45pm.

He will be buried at the Sungai Sekamat Islamic Cemetery, Kajang tomorrow.

KUALA LUMPUR - Former group editor-in-chief of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) Datuk Hishamuddin Aun died of pneumonia at Sultan Idris Hospital, Serdang, at about 7.45pm.

The matter was informed by his daughter, Nur Camilia, when contacted by Bernama.

"My father has been placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for over a month," she said.

According to her, the body is still at the hospital and will be buried at the Sungai Sekamat Islamic Cemetery, Kajang tomorrow.

Hishamuddin leaves behind a wife, four children and two grandchildren.

Hishamuddin's health had reportedly been deteriorating for the past two weeks due to an influenza infection and was admitted to Sultan Idris Hospital ICU.

The deceased was appointed as the group editor of Berita Harian for three years from 2003 to 2006.

Hishamuddin, who was experienced in the world of sports journalism, also worked at Astro Arena for almost a decade. - BERNAMA
