BALING - Three students from a school in the Baling district and a former student have been arrested for allegedly being involved in a gang rape case and for distributing obscene materials that went viral on social media.
The disturbing incident has raised renewed concern over sexual misconduct among teenagers after police confirmed the arrest of the four individuals in connection with a viral video showing a naked student.
Baling Acting District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Salimi Md Ali said the police received a report from a 53-year-old complainant at 8.11pm on Sunday after being alerted by a discipline teacher about the viral recording.
He said the complainant lodged the report at 11am the same day after being informed by the teacher.
Police later arrested three students and a former student at about 9.30pm to assist in the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, police seized six mobile phones believed to have been used to record or circulate the explicit content.
Investigations showed that the suspects had kept and distributed the pornographic materials that were circulating online.
It was also found that the four suspects had engaged in sexual activities, including group sex, between May and August 2025 at several locations, including inside a classroom at the school.
Police obtained a five-day remand order for all four suspects to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for group rape and Section 8 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for distributing child pornography.
