Popular actress Uqasha Senrose has officially filed for divorce from her husband, actor Kamal Adli, after three years of marriage.
The actress, whose full name is Nik Zaris Uqasha Nik Sen, was present in court for the first mention of her divorce case at the Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court, while Kamal was absent and only represented by his syarie lawyer.
Uqasha expressed her hope that Kamal would cooperate and not be absent again, explaining that she also has her own work commitments.
She also stated that her main focus was on the legal process and that she did not wish to involve their child in the matter.
She added that they prefer not to discuss anything concerning their child and would focus solely on finalising the divorce.
According to her syarie lawyer, Nurfarhana Abd Manaf, Uqasha arrived as early as 9am but the case was postponed to Oct 28 due to Kamal’s absence.
Nurfarhana explained that the divorce application was filed on Oct 1 under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law Act, citing irreconcilable differences.
“Since my client feels that the marriage can no longer continue, she decided to proceed with the divorce, even though it was not an easy decision,” she said.
She further added that several attempts had been made to save the marriage before her client decided to proceed and she emphasised that Kamal had not made any effort to reconcile.
When asked about her wellbeing, Uqasha said she was coping well and had left everything to fate, adding that she would continue to stay strong for herself and her child, who is currently under her care.
It was reported that the couple no longer live together, with Uqasha now residing at her mother’s home.
Earlier reports indicated that cracks in their marriage began to show in April, though it was not due to a third party.
Uqasha also declined to respond to Kamal’s recent social media post, which appeared to imply that there were no issues between them.
“Think for yourself,” she said briefly before leaving the court premises.
The couple tied the knot on Nov 5, 2021 in an intimate ceremony in Janda Baik, Pahang, after getting engaged earlier that year.
On April 27, 2024, they were blessed with a daughter, Hawra Uqaira.
