SHAH ALAM - Dr Fauziah Mohd Hassan, a volunteer with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition x Thousand Madleens to Gaza humanitarian mission, has urged United States (US) President Donald Trump to help end the ongoing occupation in Palestine and to not pursue policies that would further harm its people.
With Trump expected to visit Malaysia for the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Dr Fauziah expressed hope that the US would adopt a more compassionate and just stance towards the Palestinian cause.
"We hope he doesn’t plan to form the Riviera of Gaza," she said referring to purported discussions by Trump and international partners on proposals to build a "Riviera of the Middle East" on the rubble of Gaza.
She said this after the "Misi Flotilla, 'Mak Online' & Apa Selepas Ini" Interviu programme, here, on Wednesday.
Dr Fauziah called for fair treatment and impartial military oversight in Gaza, adding that Palestinians must be allowed to determine their own future.
"We hope there will be a monitoring team that acts fairly towards the people of Gaza. We also hope that Palesinians are allowed to decide the future of their own country, not America and not Israel," she said.
She stressed that the ultimate goal should be justice and unity rather than division.
"We hope President Trump will take a stand to stop the occupation of Palestine and support efforts that truly bring peace," she said.
