“But in any case, everyone is aware that he is overseas. We have issued an arrest warrant previously.

“So, there are actions being implemented that require assistance from the relevant countries. Insya Allah, we will do our best to resolve this matter,” he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Thursday in preparation for the 47th Asean Summit.

Also present were deputy IGP Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, PDRM Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus and Internal Security and Public Order Department deputy director of operations Datuk Fisol Salleh.

Khalid was responding to media reports alleging that Adlan, who is the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, has been living a lavish lifestyle in a Middle Eastern country since fleeing Malaysia more than two years ago.

When asked if the police had received updates from Interpol regarding the red notice requested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Khalid said, “So far, we have not received anything yet. Perhaps the MACC can answer that question.”

Previously, MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya revealed that the investigation began on March 13 2023 after a formal report was lodged.

He said that between May and August 2023, investigators made multiple attempts to contact Adlan via telephone, WhatsApp and official correspondence, urging him to present himself at the MACC headquarters.

“When Adlan failed to appear, the MACC took several measures, including securing an arrest warrant from the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court on Sept 7 2023, applying for an Interpol red notice through the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) and submitting complete documentation to Interpol in October 2023,” he said.

He added that the MACC also collaborated with the Immigration Department to cancel Adlan’s passport between August and September 2023 and submitted several follow-up reports to Interpol throughout 2024 and 2025.

Adlan is being sought by the MACC in connection with the embezzlement of a government project involving the registration, recruitment and biometric storage of foreign workers at a ministry.
