KUALA LUMPUR - Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has reiterated that the investigation into fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, is still active.
He said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is always scrutinising every latest development and will take appropriate action based on the needs of the investigation.
"The investigation into the individual involved is still ongoing and there is no need for this matter to be openly discussed,” he said when asked about the status of the investigation into Jho Low during a media conference here today.
Jho Low is wanted by the authorities to assist in investigations into the embezzlement of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.
Previously, there were allegations that Jho Low was living in an elite area in Shanghai, China, using a fake Australian passport.
However, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said checks and information received so far have found no evidence or credible supporting facts regarding Jho Low's current location or the alledged use of the passport. - BERNAMA
