SHAH ALAM - Talk about being at the wrong place at the most dramatic time.
A food delivery rider got the shock of his life when the main entrance roof of the legendary Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur literally came crashing down, right as he arrived with someone’s dinner order.
Posting on Threads on Tuesday night, @akasyahrashid shared the moment that could have easily been a scene from a disaster movie.
"I just reached the Majestic Hotel when the main entrance roof collapsed. I was so shocked. Luckily, no one was hurt. But seriously, how does a grand hotel’s roof just fall like that?," he wrote in his post.
Imagine rolling up to a five-star hotel, ready to drop off someone’s food order and instead of a fancy lobby view, the roof gives way.
When contacted, the hotel responded to the viral buzz, confirming that something did go down, but assured that everything was under control.
"We wish to inform you that the hotel’s Porte Cochere is temporarily closed for repairs due to an unforeseen structural incident.
"The situation was promptly managed in accordance with established safety protocols and we are grateful that all guests and associates are safe," the hotel's communications department told Sinar Daily.
They added that alternative check-in routes have been arranged while the hotel worked on fixing the issue.
"We are working diligently to restore normal operations and deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause. The safety, comfort and well-being of our guests and associates remain our highest priority," it added.
There were no injuries reported, just a lot of shocked onlookers and one delivery rider who would probably never forget that drop-off.
