Logging worker killed after being attacked by rampaging elephant

Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said several of the victim’s co-workers fled the area in panic after realising the presence of the animals.

"A herd of elephants was seen in the workers’ settlement area before attacking the victim.

"The victim was believed to have had no time to escape," he told Sinar.

He said the victim was found dead at about 7am the following morning, with severe injuries to the head and body.

"When the other workers returned to the area, they found that the victim was already dead," he said.

He added that the victim’s body was taken to the Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem.
