Approximately 30 per cent of the restaurant’s premises on the 57th floor sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.

SHAH ALAM - One of Kuala Lumpur’s most recognisable fine dining establishments, Marini’s on 57, has temporarily closed after a fire broke out on the top floor of Petronas Tower 3, where it is located, on Saturday morning.

The incident, which quickly went viral across social media, showed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the upper levels of the 60-storey tower located right next to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

News reports reveals that approximately 30 per cent of the restaurant’s premises on the 57th floor sustained damage, but no injuries were reported. The fire was successfully extinguished by 8.45 am.

Shortly after, Marini’s on 57 issued a statement on its official Instagram account announcing a temporary closure beginning Nov 1.

"Dear patrons, please be informed that Marini’s On 57 will be temporarily closed from Nov 1. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding," the statement read.

The closure came less than 24 hours after the restaurant hosted an 'All-Out Halloween' masquerade party the night before the incident.

Founded in 2012, Marini’s on 57 has become synonymous with high-end Italian cuisine, panoramic skyline views and exclusive social gatherings in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.

The restaurant, bar and cigar lounge are part of The Marini’s Group, led by Cavaliere Modesto Marini, an Italian restaurateur who made Malaysia his home in 1995.

A graduate of one of Italy’s top culinary schools, Modesto honed his craft at prestigious fine dining establishments in Italy, London and Singapore before building a name as one of Malaysia’s most influential figures in the dining scene.

Over the years, Marini’s on 57 has hosted celebrities, dignitaries and international guests, establishing itself as a go-to destination for fine dining and nightlife enthusiasts seeking an elevated experience.

As news and videos of the fire circulated online, netizens expressed concern and encouragement for the restaurant’s staff and management. Many took to the comment section of Marini’s official Instagram post to send their well-wishes.

Instagram user @irishamarkina shared her concern for the safety of the staff while expressing hope for the restaurant’s swift return.

"I hope everyone is doing well and that you will reopen soon," she commented.

Similarly, @diana_seidakhmetova extended her wishes for the team’s safety and a quick recovery.

"Hope everyone’s safe and you can reopen soon," she said.

Echoing the view, @makoto.hartamas encouraged the restaurant’s staff to stay strong through the setback, wishing the team a smooth recovery and speedy reopening.

As of now, the restaurant has not released any updates regarding the extent of the damage or when operations will resume.

However, loyal patrons and supporters remain optimistic about the restaurant’s comeback, given its long-standing reputation as one of Malaysia’s premier fine dining establishments.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities.
