KUALA LUMPUR – Police have reclassified the death of a Taiwanese female influencer at a hotel here on Oct 22 as a murder case.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case, which was previously classified as sudden death (SDR), has now been reclassified as murder.
“Further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code is ongoing,” he said briefly in a statement on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old influencer was found lying in the bathroom of a hotel room along Jalan Conlay here on Oct 22.
She was reported to have entered Malaysia on Oct 20 via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 1).
The victim’s body was later sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for a post-mortem examination.
It is understood that at the time of the incident, local rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, 42, was also in the same room.
Namewee was subsequently detained after police suspected him of possessing and using drugs.
